The Snowman on the Beach is a timeless tale of an elderly lighthouse keeper who builds an ordinary snowman for companionship. But after years of friendship, the aging man has to give up his beloved lighthouse and leave the island behind. The snowman remains on the beach, patiently awaiting his return while encountering all the beautiful and sometimes difficult twists and turns life has in store.

This children’s book is a heartwarming exploration of friendship and loss, the cycle of life, and the impact we all have on others, no matter how ordinary we might seem.

This was such a fun and unique story that both my kids enjoyed. We never think of a snowman on the beach. The book has a little bit of the Giving Tree vibe as it really makes the snowman feel like a real person with feelings. The old man is so lonely that he builds his friend and spends time with him. After getting too old, he leaves the snowman behind. The snowman endures some weather and meets a new friend, the seal. He even helps save a ship from crashing into the shore because their light was able to shine off of the snowman. The book has a great happy ending  with a new lighthouse keeper coming and repairing the snowman. Now they have each other to keep company. This book has a true old school classic feel to it. A real heart felt emotional story that kids will love.
