The Chef On The Shelf
by Valerie Yanez, Antonio Yánez (Illustrator) The Chef On The Shelf is an enchanting tale about a little kitchen chef decoration who longs for his family to know the truth about him. He's more than just a simple knickknack. Will he have the courage to show the family who he really is? This was a very cute short story. My son loved the idea of it because it reminded him of the movie, The Indian in the Cupboard. Kids love thinking about their toys coming to life. The illustrations were unique in that they were more of a coloring book style which my son enjoyed because he could relate to them as if it were something that he might draw in a book. It made us giggle seeing that little chef standing on the counter cooking with the frying pan. The page with the crepes, waffles, eggs, pancakes and bacon made us really hungry. The story ends happily with the family embracing the little chef and allowing him to fulfill his dream of being a chef for the family. There are some chef poems at the end of the book along with some images of cool chef figurines and cookie jars. Buy on Amazon See more inside the book on Instagram
