The Adventures of Archer the Axolotl: Guardian of the Lake
by Faith Cellan What endangered, exotic creature swims in Lake Xochimilco in Mexico? Do you like to read about amazing aquatic amphibians? Join Archer, his family, and friends in their unique, usually peaceful underwater world. Learn how preying predators threatened to destroy their homes. Discover how Archer, once bullied for his 'distinctive' appearance, learned Jiu-jitsu and used his extraordinary abilities to become the Guardian of the Lake. If you love sea creatures or worry about vulnerable aquatic life, this story, a narrative blend of fiction and non-fiction, is for you. My kids loved this book. We ended up looking up pictures of Axolotls after we read it. They were fascinated to learn that Archer could rebuild his limbs. Archer and his family are endangered and there aren't a lot of animals like them, so, they got picked on a lot. Archer was frequently bullied. One day, a group of predators came in and attacked the lake. Many fish were injured and Archer knew he needed to help so he confronted the predators. They beat him up badly and left him laying there. The predators destroyed the community. One day, Archer and his friends came across a Siamese fighting fish. He ended up teaching them jiu-jitsu. When the predators returned, Archer and his friends were ready. They were able to defeat the predators. The story ends with a great lesson; "always do what is right, no matter how hard it can be. We are all unique and special in our own little way. Therefore, we should always be kind and respect each other. Purchase on Amazon See more inside the book on Instagram
