This is a wonderful story about a girl named Reese who is going on a vacation with her family to her favorite place in the whole world, Camp Lake Shore. There, she meets a girl, Addie, who looks very much like her. They become good friends. Addie invites Reese over to her tent to listen to some music. They even shared the same favorite song. They went on a boat ride together and spent the day jumping into the water. Over the next week, they did everything together, including enjoying some s'mores. The time comes when they both realize that they will be leaving tomorrow. Reese was still excited because she comes every weekend. But Addie tells her that her family only comes to the camp once a year. They vowed to stay best friends forever. Before they parted ways, Addie gave Reese a thank you note for being her best friend. Trading notes and drawings had been one of their favorite things to do this year. They decide to become pen pals and write letters to each other to stay in touch. Over the summer they would write letters and send gifts. Reese cherished her relationship with Addie more than any even though they didn’t see each other. Over the years they stayed in touch and Reese even added more pen pal friends.

I was blown away with the detail of this book and really brought you in close to the relationship. The beginning of the story had me really missing vacation and wanting to go on one so badly. The details of everything they did and saw reminded me so much of vacations on the lake that I had. And then the relationship with the 2 girls was just perfect. The more and more my son and I read, the more we got pulled in and wanted to know what happened. This is one of the best books about friendship I have ever read. It's also a great way to get your children writing letters to their friends. 10 out of 10.
