Max Goes to Town
by Cynthia L. Clark
Max Goes to Town is the delightful sweet story of the scruffy, gray cat who amazes his family when he journeys to town. Based on a true story and charmingly written in verse, readers of all ages will delight in Max's spirit and determination. Beautifully illustrated by Blueberry Illustrations.
This book reminded me a lot of the classic types of books I would have read in elementary school. The nice simple story with excellent rhyming and illustrations that look like amazing watercolors. I had my son read this to me out-loud cause he loves rhyming books. He was really trying to figure out how the cat got in the car the first time. The story is about a cat who sneaks his way into the family truck for a little trip into town while the family is headed to the cafe to eat. When they come out of the cafe, they are surprised by what is waiting for them on the hood of the truck. The family doesn't make the same mistake twice, as they use the car next time they head into town. This just has that classic book feel to it and I could definitely picture this book in classrooms for kindergarten or first grade.
