Let's meet Ben!: From the flycatcher family
by Arabelle Zhang
Let’s Meet Ben! introduces a popular flycatcher who lives within and outside the forests of the American continent. This is a colorfully illustrated story created with younger children in mind, and uses fun, easy language to describe simple bird facts that will make reading this book a joy and spark your child’s innate curiosity about nature!
What a perfect book to read on this beautiful day. It's been cold and snowy all winter and we finally have a bright sunny day with the birds chirping outside. I read the book to my daughter this morning. The book is very cute with lots of colorful illustrations. We got to learn about the colors of Ben, his family name, what kind of things he eats, the habitats he lives in, and how the parents of flycatchers are loving parents and defend their nests from harmful predators. The end of the book has a “Parts of a Bird” chart to help teach children about all the different parts and what they’re used for. There is also a bird comparison chart to help you understand how big certain birds are. This is an excellent choice for early readers and animal enthusiasts.
