Fudgesicle
By Tinee Furbert, Illustrated by Gherdai Hassell Fudgesicle is a colorful, positive, upbeat story of a young girl’s introduction to a chocolate-flavored Bermuda fudgesicle. The book is a unique approach to help empower young girls of color to love and accept their natural skin tones. In the book, Novi and her mom discover how different fudgesicles can be compared to various brown skin tones, including her own. During their day’s journey, Novi experiences disappointment and joy and learns self-awareness, self-image, and self-confidence lessons. The book includes a blank coloring page so young readers can color Novi. What a fantastic story and a great way to show representation of skin colors to young children. It was fitting because we happen to have fudgesicles at our house right now. I loved how we got to see Novi expressing her love of different colors of fudgesicles and how that can apply to people as well. I think this is the perfect way to show children that people of all colors are great. Novi decides which fudgy she wants but shortly after leaving the shop, she drops it. Luckily her mom takes her back to another. Read to find which kind of fudgy Novi picks. "A unique, remarkable, delicious delight." Purchase on Amazon See more inside the book on Instagram
