I loved, loved, loved this book. It holds a special place for me since I also went through IVF for one of my children. It’s something most people don’t have to deal with but this book really touched me. I love how the point of view is from the eyes of the unborn child as an embryo. He saw how mommy and daddy really wanted a child and that it was tough for them to think about not being able to conceive. Then, Elio shows us how a doctor helped create him and was left alone to grow. It was so cute to see Elio having fun and then seeing him freeze solid as embryos do sometimes when you freeze them to store for later use. Then one day, Elio wasn’t frozen anymore and he was now in a long tunnel, lol. Then, “squish!” Elio was in mom’s tummy. Now, Elio could rest from his long journey and snack on all kinds of foods his mommy ate. Then he gets to meet his loving parents. Just such a well done book. Very heart warming and an amazing idea for a story.
