Elle the Humanist
by Elle Harris & Douglas Harris
Elle the Humanist is an amazing, thought-provoking book presenting humanist ideas and ethics in a way that's warm, welcoming, and accessible for young readers. The book explains in simple terms how someone can be a good, moral person even when not religious. It encourages respect and kindness for others and shows the unifying principle of humanism and religion regardless of denomination. The part that I really loved the most was that this book teaches a rule that many people don't understand, treat others the way THEY want to be treated. Not how you want to be treated. The book emphasizes that people are different and that just because you want someone to treat you a certain way, doesn't mean that others want to be treated the same way.
