I loved these illustrations. They seem very unique and hand drawn. Seeing the transformations from one animal to the next was beautiful. I read this with my 2 year old daughter as the book seems in that age range from 1-5 years old. She seemed to enjoy the bright colors of the animals and she kept saying “cat on fire” when the cat jumped through the flaming hoop to transform into the tiger. The book is written in a beautiful easy to read rhyme. The story is about a cat named Blue, who has a dream of becoming a star. Throughout the story he transforms into different animals; a tiger, a zebra, a reindeer, and then finally a star. This book makes a perfect gift for a young child and has that classic board book feel to it.
