Professor Nickelspring's Shop - by P. M. Hillman
Professor Nickelspring is not like the other shopkeepers in Bustlers Bend. His shop is dull, dingy and has newspapers on the windows. It doesn’t look like the other shops in town, which are decorated and colourful. The other shopkeepers don’t like it one bit. Why can’t he make his shop beautiful like theirs?
Then one day, the biggest flock of birds anyone has ever seen comes to town and they don’t want to leave. No one can work out how to get rid of them. What a mess! Maybe Professor Nickelspring can help and finally prove to everyone how wonderful his shop really is.
My kids loved this book. The illustrations are amazing and bright with so much life. It really helps paint a magical little world which keeps my kids interested in the story. Of course my son loved the part with the birds pooping everywhere. He even got my 2 year old daughter laughing saying, “birds are pooping.” The story is simple and it is a quick read. I think the illustrations really make this book what it is.
