This was a really nice book about friendship and kindness. The book starts off with Ali and his mother picking out his new robot themed lunchbox. He is nervous about his first day of kindergarten. After a few lessons from the teacher, Ali goes to lunch and opens his lunchbox to find a note from his mother. The note wishes him a wonderful day and reminds him to be kind with the words, “the funny thing about being kind is that the more you give out, the more you get back.” Ali notices a girl sitting by herself and forgot her lunch. He offers her half of his sandwich and some of his cookies. This makes the girl smile and the two become friends. He learns mama was right about getting kindness back. The girl brings lunch the next day for Ali.

This book is so perfect and written in a nice simple way for children to understand. I have personally experienced this many times when I was younger and just being able to help out another kid who forgot their lunch goes a long way. I love being able to share stories like this with my kids to help them become better people.
