Kids Word Cookbook - by Scott Ravede, Rivka Ravede (Illustrator)
A "word" cookbook challenges you to eat your words in a series of wordplay "dishes" with recipes included at the back of the book. A collection of short tongue-twisting wordplay "recipes" that anyone can cook up to make a delightful experience for the mouth and ears. Like any good cookbook worth its salt, this is a book you will want to read over and over again. Not only is Kids Word Cookbook a blast to read, it is educational to boot. Filled with homophones, homonyms, heteronyms, alliteration, tongue twisters and other forms of wordplay, it challenges both kids and adults. This book was definitely the most tongue twisting one I have ever read. My son and I loved trying to read it without hesitating. My son was laughing as he had trouble trying to read it without getting confused. The book is very educational as it teaches you about how language is used and the different things like homophones, homonyms, heteronyms, and alliteration. There is a glossary of terms, questions for kids, and recipe cards at the back of the book. My son is only 6, so these types of things were a little over his head but this is a very fun book that will surely get your kids interested in reading.
