Grin and Ferret: A Grit Lesson With Frida and Fred
by Stacy Shaneyfelt This heartwarming, funny, and artistic book cleverly teaches kids the grit not to quit, perfect for any parent, daycare worker, teacher, librarian, counselor, or coach to reinforce science facts with resilience lessons and a free bonus gift of 10 post-reading boredom busters and hands-on activities. Roll with furballs of laughter, mindfulness, socioemotional lessons, and growth mindset approaches to life in this rhythmical book that builds courage, empathy, and fortitude! My son and I really liked the illustrations in this one. The pictures are so well done and the family of ferrets is funny. The book's main theme is to teach children to be who you are and embrace being different as a good thing. There’s also little science facts about ferrets through the story which makes it fun and interesting to learn. There are post reading activities at the end of the book which are great for discussion and additional learning. My son's favorite pages were “when the ferrets looked all stinky” or when the one was putting the gerbil on its plate to eat. Purchase on Amazon See more on Instagram
