Children's Book Review - Chandler the Crocodile

Chandler the Crocodile

Chandler was the new kid. A crocodile at an all bear school. He struggles to fit in because he doesn't look like the everyone else. His skin is leathery and green. His teeth were pointy and sharp. No one will sit with him at lunch. No one would play with him during recess. His mother tries to help by telling Chandler to show off his gifts. But a few mishaps leave him in the same position as before. When a fellow classmate is flailing their arms in the water, Chandler comes to the rescue to save her. In the end. They become friends. 
The book is  a nice way to show differences in people by using animals that are different. The book will help kids understand how everyone is unique and even though we are different we can all still be friends. It opens up a nice discussion with my son about how all the kids in his class are different. He even said “it would be boring if everyone was the same.” Which I think is true. Our differences are what makes being together so much fun. We get to learn about lots of different things that everyone does and experiences.
