Books For Benjamin
by R.G. de Rouen, Uliana Barabash (Illustrator) Unlike his family members who are happily munching away on scraps, Benjamin is a different kind of worm. He loves to read. Yet, all he finds are old newspapers and magazines full of tomato splotches. Not one to give up on his dreams, Benjamin sets off on a quest to find “real" books. Join Benjamin on his book hunting adventure and watch your little ones search for Benjamin’s famous signature in their books! Benjamin wants to find real books. So, he hitches a ride in a newspaper to find a new place that might have books for him. At his new home, he almost gets swatted and eaten. With the help of some new bug friends, they get Benjamin to the local library where he reads everyday. There it is discovered that he is the one who has been leaving a special mark inside books. Eventually, he makes his way to the library of congress and even has his picture taken with the president. The illustrations have that classic feel to them. The story is unique with a fun learning twist on it. I loved the bookworm aspect of it and how we get to see how Benjamin invented that special signature inside books.
