A Birthday Fairy Tale
by Megan Pighetti Christmas and Hanukkah are over, and New Year’s is right around the corner. With so much on the calendar, no one has time for Reese’s birthday. Mom is busy. Dad is working. Her brother Charlie is no fun. December birthdays are the worst. It’s time for Reese to take charge and make sure she is celebrated on her birthday . . . with a little magical help, will all her wishes come true? This is a cute story about a little girl who thinks no one cares about her. They didn’t care about her new bracelet she made, that her birthday was tomorrow or even just about her in general. I can relate to this because my kids act the same way and think just because one little thing goes wrong that it's the end of the world. We laughed at the part where Reese packs up her stuff to move out to the treehouse. I feel like you aren’t a kid until you do something like try to move out or run away. My son packed his backpack at age 4 to run away and made it about 1 house away before running back. Reese packs her tutu, stuffed animals, books, and fairy wings. This is when she gets the idea, there must be a Birthday Fairy. With her bracelet she makes a wish for the Birthday Fairy to come tonight. I loved seeing the illustration of the parents watching her do this with smirks on their face. When Reese awakens the next morning she sees the fairy came and that everyone remembered her birthday. Just an overall cute book with great illustrations. Perfect for a birthday present for any young child.
