When did you become a children’s book author?I have recently developed a passion for creative writing. Do you have a writing background?No How did you come up with the story?I have worked with children at a pediatric dental office. How did you come up with the character?My character, Peter, is fictional. He could be any child who comes to the dentist. How do you select names for your characters?The dentist and dental hygienist were based on real people. Did you hire an illustrator or do the illustrations yourself?Yes, I hired an illustrator. Are you self-published or published through a publishing company?My book was published through Luminare Press. From the day you came up with the idea for the story until you were holding your published book in your hand, how long did it take you to complete this book?About nine months. What made you want to publish a children's book?I had exciting and fun ideas I wanted to share with young readers. What is one thing you wish you knew before beginning your book publishing journey?Submit your book (galley) four months in advance for professional book reviews. Any tips for future children’s book authors?Write your heart out! Follow your dreams! What is the best reaction from a reader, so far?“Holly Cow!” was my best reaction so far, from the dentist I based my character on. What is something you’d like people to take away from your book(s)?Going to the dentist is a fun learning experience. Where do you get ideas for your stories?Myself. I am a registered dental hygienist. What's your writing process like?I try to picture all the events actually taking place. Do you have any other books in the works?Yes. My next children’s dental book has been sent to the publisher. What does literary success look like to you?I have succeeded, if my book reaches even a few young readers.
